Nif'al conjugation: לְהִכָּנֵס — to enter
Model nif'al verb
The mark of nif'al is נִ in the past and present (they almost coincide: נִכְנַס — entered, נִכְנָס — enters) and the infinitive לְהִ…ֵ… (לְהִכָּנֵס). Also: לְהִפָּגֵשׁ (to meet), לְהִשָּׁאֵר (to stay), לְהִזָּהֵר (to be careful), לְהִלָּחֵם (to fight), לְהֵרָדֵם (to fall asleep), לְהִפָּרֵד (to part), לְהֵעָלֵב (to be offended).

Past and present differ only in the vowel of the second root letter — נִכְנַס (entered) / נִכְנָס (enters) — and in the feminine: נִכְנְסָה (she entered) / נִכְנֶסֶת (she enters).
