Pa'al conjugation, roots starting with י: לָשֶׁבֶת — to sit
Roots starting with י: לָשֶׁבֶת, לָרֶדֶת, לָדַעַת, לָצֵאת, לָלֶכֶת
The first root letter י drops in the future and imperative and the prefix takes “e” (tsere): אֵשֵׁב, תֵּשֵׁב. The infinitive ends in ־ֶת: לָשֶׁבֶת. Also: לָרֶדֶת (to go down) → יֵרֵד, לָדַעַת (to know) → יֵדַע, לָצֵאת (to go out) → יֵצֵא, לָלֶכֶת (to go) → יֵלֵךְ (root in ה, but conjugated the same way).

Not every verb in י works this way: לִישֹׁן (to sleep) → יִישַׁן and לִיצֹר (to create) → יִיצֹר keep the י in the future.
